Last night artist Julien Ceccaldi was at Ooga Twooga (aka 356 Mission), the satellite space to art/zine/book/clothing store Ooga Booga, to talk about his recent work and sign a zine of new comics titled Less Than Dust. The zine features Ceccaldi’s iconic muscular, pointy-chinned women and pig-faced men embroiled in millenial melodrama.
According to his website, Ceccaldi “produces comics in small editions with narratives centered on manga heroines trying to maintain the facade of a thriving self.” He has shown in Los Angeles, Berlin, New York, Geneva, and Montreal. His work was also featured on the June 2014 cover of Artforum.
Less Than Dust can be purchased at Ceccaldi’s website or through Ooga Booga online.
