ARTISTS FOR BIDEN FUNDRAISER

Over 100 artists and estates have donated works for a fundraiser supporting Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.* Presented on Platform.art—an initiative developed by David Zwirner—participating galleries include Regen Projects, Jack Shainman, Gladstone, Lehmann Maupin, Petzel, and Marian Goodman, as well as Gemini G.E.L.

Following a virtual kickoff earlier this week with vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris, Carrie Mae Weems, and Catherine Opie, the sale is now live. See link below for details.

BETYE SAAR — CALL AND RESPONSE VIRTUAL TOUR

BETYE SAAR—CALL AND RESPONSE—an exhibition curated by Carol S. Eliel at LACMA that traces the genesis between Saar’s preliminary notebook sketches and her finished work—is now on view in Manhattan.

This week, Morgan curator Rachel Federman will present a virtual guided tour of the show.

CHARLES WHITE AND HIS CIRCLE

This is the closing weekend for TRUTH & BEAUTY—CHARLES WHITE AND HIS CIRCLE, an exhibition of works by the great draftsman and his friends and colleagues, reflecting White’s working life in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles—the host cities of his concurrent retrospective.

Among White’s circle and included in the show are Romare Bearden, Betye SaarRoy DeCarava, Philip Evergood, Robert Gwathmey, David Hammons, Jacob Lawrence, Gordon Parks, Norman Lewis, Ben ShahnJohn Biggers, Eldzier Cortor, Kerry James Marshall, and Hale Woodruff.

CHARLES WHITE—A RETROSPECTIVE

The retrospective will be on view in Los Angeles in early 2019, along with two coincident exhibitions: LIFE MODEL—CHARLES WHITE AND HIS STUDENTS at LACMA’s satellite gallery at Charles White Elementary School—formerly Otis Art Institute, where the artist taught for many years—and a show at CAAM.
