PETE SHELLEY

Pete Shelley—one of the greatest composers and performers of the punk era—died yesterday in Estonia.

Shelley—who avoided gender pronouns in his songs and adopted the family name of Percy and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley—formed Buzzcocks in 1976 with Howard Devoto, releasing the EP Spiral Scratch (which includes the song “Boredom”) at the end of that year.

Devoto departed in 1977, eventually forming Magazine, leaving Shelley lead the Buzzcocks on guitar and vocals though several albums until their disbandment in 1981.

Local audiences still recall the revival tour which brought the band to Sunset Junction in August 2007, drawing the largest crowd in the music fair’s history.

LAUNCH OF THE MAGAZINE OCTOPUSNOTES 3 AT CENTRE POMPIDOU

octopusnotes is a magazine that promotes Contemporary Art and Art History research. Each publication is composed of three collections. The first collection is a “thesis,” recently defended, focusing on Contemporary Art History. The second collection, entitled “comments,” is dedicated to artists’ interviews or talks. For the third collection, “notes,” octopusnotes invites an artist to conceive an edition.

For the launch of the third issue, Kandinksy Library at the Pompidou Center invited the magazine to present in a gold room.
The artist Martin Laborde did the edition for this new issue, called “Sac” which means bag.
All of the artists and people who contributed to octopusnotes were there. A talk took place.
The sun was there too. It was a lovely evening.

Here are some pictures !

LIGIA DIAS, MAGAZINE
Magazine, 2014
Vegetable-tanned leather, four-color print, 22-carat gold, palladium-plated brass, and stainless steel.
Ed. 55 + 5 AP

Magazine celebrates the fragile aspect of a periodical. By turning the pages of PARIS, LA magazine into a unique bracelet, jewelry maker Ligia Dias confirms her interest in traditional and industrial materials, as well as her ability to combine luxury and natural attributes in one single object. Cut, gilded with 22-carat gold leaf, drilled, and held between two leather bands, Magazine becomes a formless, illegible book that can either be worn on the wrist or placed on display.
