ALEX ROSS PERRY IN CONVERSATION

A sensation at last year’s New York and American Film Institute festivals, HER SMELL returns to Los Angeles as part of the inaugural Red Bull Music Center Channel film fest.

Starring the always-remarkable Elisabeth Moss as Becky Something—a rocker in drastic free fall—HER SMELL is not, according to the writer-director Alex Ross Perry, based on Courtney Love.

Perry will participate in a post-screening conversation, joined by the film’s composer Keegan DeWitt.

GLENN LIGON AND HAMZA WALKER IN CONVERSATION

Join Glenn Ligon and Hamza Walker for a conversation at Regen Projects, where Ligon’s show UNTITLED (AMERICA)/DEBRIS FIELD/SYNECDOCHE/NOTES FOR A POEM ON THE THIRD WORLD will be up through Sunday.

The exhibition includes the large neon Notes for a Poem on the Third World, which is based on a tracing of the artist’s hands, and the first in a series of works inspired by an unrealized film project by Pier Paolo Pasolini.

MALCOLM LE GRICE IN LOS ANGELES

Malcolm Le Grice—”one of the most compellingly original and radical artist-theorists in the history of the post-war moving image”—will be in Los Angeles for the next week or so.

During this rare visit Le Grice and Los Angeles Film Forum will present his work around town in a series of venues, including the world premiere of the new edit of his immersive multi-screen piece FINITO at the Spielberg Theatre.

JOHN GIORNO AT WARHOL DRAWINGS PANEL

A trove of over 150 drawings by Andy Warhol—now on view at the New York Academy of Art—trace nearly four decades of work by the hand of the artist who wanted to be a machine.

This week—in conjunction with ANDY WARHOL: BY HAND—join curator and Warhol associate Vincent Fremont, curator Donna De Salvo, and poet, artist, and Warhol actor John Giorno for a panel discussion on the exhibition, moderated by curator and New York Academy of Art president David Kratz.
