WEEKLY WRAP UP | JULY 14-18, 2014

This week we walked through the flea market “Place du Jeu de Balle” in Brussels, announced an exciting new exhibition of Ray Johnson Designs currently on view at MoMA, shared photographs of Betty Davenport Ford’s ceramic sculptures, took a tour through Joshua Tree National Park, shared images of Alex Katz’s paintings at Thaddaeus Ropac in le Bourget, reported on the premiere of Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery, and shared memories of the Dream House.

Ford-sculpting.sm_I recently visited the American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona, California, where I discovered the work of Betty Davenport Ford. Ford is a sculptor who has been active in the California ceramics scene since the 1950s. Her clay forms usually take the shape of animals and plant life. In addition to her sculptures, I really enjoyed the documentation of Ford working in her studio, and photographs of her outdoor sculptures, and her home, which is decked out in Mid-Century Modern furniture and designs.
