BLACK FIRE SESSIONS AT THE BROAD

The Art Ensemble of Chicago co-founder Roscoe Mitchell and pianist Brett Carson will perform at the first of two Black Fire Sessions at the Broad.

The concerts celebrate the exhibition Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power 1963–1983, and Mitchell—who collaborates with AfriCOBRA—and Carson will be preceded by the “beat music” of Teebs in the first floor lobby.

The evening includes performances by Georgia Anne Muldrow and Busdriver in the museum’s Oculus Hall, and throughout the evening Mecca Vazie Andrews will “animate the galleries of Soul of a Nation through three distinct movement and dance pieces.”*
