Maybe you have never been to Vasquez Rocks, but you have probably seen these prominent rock formations on television or in a movie. This grouping of rocks, about an hour drive north of Los Angeles, has been featured on Star Trek, and in the movies Austin Powers, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, The Muppet Movie, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and more. I recently went for a hike around the rocks and saw firsthand why this is such a popular site for Hollywood shoots. The rocks jut out of the earth at an impressive angle, and the desert-scape feels like another planet.
