TARKOVSKY’S SOLARIS

In SOLARIS (1972, based on the novel by Stanislaw Lem), director Andrei Tarkovsky and production designer Mikhail Romadin take “an intellectual approach to metaphysical issues. Scientists try to understand the secrets of the mysterious planet Solaris but find themselves slowly becoming victims of their own imaginations and secret desires.”

The time-and-space epic stars Donatas Banionis, Natalya Bondarchuk, and Jüri Järvet, and screens this weekend st the Aero as part of the American Cinematheque series The Iconography of Andrei Tarkovsky.
